  1. Misleading

Posted by Antesocial on 6th Apr 2026

While the content can be interesting reading, the magazine is really limited in potential for enhancing your gameplay experience: Product previews, short stories, an in-depth look at one of the standalone character classes... the only thing in here that arguably could give you something 'new' at the table are the painting tips. Unfortunately, a more 'casual' Brimstone hombre like myself is never going to have the time, energy, workspace, talent, *and* disposable income to paint my collection, so that article is useless to me.

Most disappointing is the cover's claim to have "six exclusive game cards." NOT TRUE: three of them are just 'recipes' for threat decks which don't need to be printed on cards in the first place. Not to mention they involve buying half-a-dozen or more enemy sets each to make full use of! They serve ZERO in-game purpose. One of them is literally just a list of Undead-keyword enemies, as if I couldn't figure out how to build that on my own?

Two are Enemy Trait cards. These are functional, but in my personal opinion, Traits work best when there is give-and-take: the enemies get some new ability in exchange for a weakness, or a higher reward when defeated. Both of these cards just make Enemies stronger, with no XP or other tweaks to offset it. Pass.

The last card is a cool sword, but it's meant for the Viking base set. I don't own it. I bought the magazine because it has Western characters on the cover!

Buy this magazine if you want to read more about the game, but don't expect any options that will meaningfully change your experience at the table. Spend the money on a 15-card expansion instead!

  2. Great Source Material!

If you are looking for new ideas, reviews, or insight in to the World of Brimstone these magazines are your ticket to adventure!

  3. Great Magazine

Posted by Chris Cailor on 19th Oct 2025

Loved the miniature pictures, especially the Helltrain gallery. The article by Aaron Lovejoy about zenithal and base coating was helpful. He broke it down into easy to understand terms.

  6. Interesting Content, but not so sure about the graphic design

Posted by Jonathan Hopkins on 21st May 2025

First thing, I am delighted to see the magazine and the selection of articles was excellent. I did find the graphic design a bit wearisome though. it dstracted me from some of the content. That's obviously a persoanl view and other younger folk might of like the way it was formatted and coloured/

  7. Please, keep this magazzine going ....

Posted by Unknown on 30th Apr 2025

Love the art, articles, histories , cards , poster.... alll good stuff.
One caveat : Please improve the quality and the way the pages are glued together, because the covers in particular keep coming loose.
Otherwise, keep making the magazine, and I'll keep buying it.

  8. Amazing Hobby Magazine

Posted by Adam “Boardgasm” Cardone on 30th Apr 2025

I love that the game Shadows of Brimstone has become its own hobby! With Titan game companies like GW and DnD loosing fans to their price gouging and “ethical” lore, mini new games have emerged that are an all encompassing hobby style experience. This magazine not only has articles about the hobby, it also came with an amazing poster and cards to use in the game. This is very reminiscent of the old days of our hobby where companies were extremely friendly to the customers because they knew it was an underground movement And as for it becoming mainstream pop culture, it was virtually impossible. The real elements of the hobby require series attention this magazine reflects that. I hope they make this a frequent thing. Thank you flying frog.

  9. Reminds me of when White Dwarf was worth getting

Posted by George on 7th Feb 2025

This was a great first issue and the cards tying the articles to the game was a nice touch and I can't wait to play them.
I will start with my two criticisms. First, I agree that the production level is very high, but the binding made it hard to read without damaging the magazine. Second is the shipping cost. $10 for a magazine to ship seems high, there is surely a way to get that at a lower rate.
On the up side there is a lot to talk about. The selection of article topics was good. I can see the future of continuing series. I especially enjoyed the Cowboy discussion and am looking forward to getting that hero on the board now. The narrative playthrough was excellent and reminded me of old school battle reports that focus on the story as much as the action. Overall, I cannot think of an issue with the content other than I want more of it.
Can't wait to see the next one.
