  1. Another good Magazine!

Posted by Chris Cailor on 19th Oct 2025

Got this and issue #1 at the same time and enjoyed them both. The lighting article by Aaron Love joy was informative and I’m looking forward to trying the Journeyman rules.

  4. Warning: Reading This Issue May Cause Sudden Hobby Ambitions

Posted by OhioJim on 4th Aug 2025

Just finished digging into the second issue of Dark Stone Magazine, and I’ve got to say — it brought me right back to the feeling of cracking open a fresh issue of White Dwarf back in my Games Workshop days. That same mix of excitement, inspiration, and “I can’t wait to try this at the table.”

This issue is 68 pages packed with Flying Frog goodness. The new rules for Journeyman Heroes are a fantastic addition for campaign players, and the Gates of Valhalla art showcase is as epic as it sounds.

But what really stood out for me was Behind the Brush: Lighting Basics. I’ve read plenty of painting guides over the years, but this one really clicked — practical, easy-to-grasp advice that actually makes you want to grab a brush and try it. It breaks down lighting in a way that feels approachable, even for someone who isn’t aiming to paint competition pieces. It’s the kind of content that makes you feel like your next batch of minis can actually look good without being intimidating.

Add in the Forbidden Fortress adventure report, a new short story from Jason C. Hill, and those six exclusive game cards (always a nice bonus), and you’ve got a magazine that’s equal parts rules, inspiration, and hobby fuel.

If you’re into Flying Frog’s worlds, this is an easy recommendation. It’s the kind of issue you’ll flip through multiple times — partly for the rules and cards, but mostly because it’s just fun to get lost in.

  5. Magazine I look forward to.

An enjoyable magazine that I am now looking forward to future editions.
Would luv to have a One Shot included in each issue.
