Shadows of Brimstone Forbidden Fortress: Feudal Japan Allies Expansion
As more and more honorable Samurai Houses have been destroyed by the demons, Dragons, and armies of the Fallen Shogun, many farmers and soldiers have found themselves without a home or warlord to protect them. Some farmers hire themselves out as Ashigaru Conscripts, joining up with Heroes to venture into the dark and foreboding castles that have fallen into shadow. Soldiers and Samurai who find themselves without a master now sell their services as Banner Bearers, carrying the flag of a new master, or Ronin Bodygaurds, selling their swords for protection against the Darkness. Even some Curious Monkey companions have come down from the mountain springs to see what new trouble they can get into amongst the chaos.
This Ally Expansion Pack contains everything you need to add Feudal Japan Allies to your games of Shadows of Brimstone! Included are 3 Ashigaru Conscript models, 1 Ronin Bodyguard model, 1 Curious Monkey model, and 1 Banner Bearer model, the medium size Ally Record Sheets for using Basic and Advanced versions of each Ally Type, the Upgrade and Mutation Charts for each Ally Type, 1 Extra Large Ashigaru Exploration Chart (including the Gruesome Fate chart), and a host of new cards themed around hiring on these Feudal Japanese Allies to help your Heroes out on your adventures into Forbidden Fortresses and beyond!
Models are supplied unassembled and unpainted.

Allies are simplified heroes, or glorified items, depending on whether you play advanced or basic variations.
They're another way to spend gold. But on the whole I'd say they make the game easier. Ashigaru in particular let you roll to avoid most nasty things that happen in the game. Well, at least until you get to roll on the appropriately named "Gruesome Fate" chart. Ashigaru are pretty disposable.
For me, allies add a lot of theme, lots of little storytelling to adventures. Their little tragedies, heroics, and tragic heroics. After a corebox and a few extra enemies, allies would be my third addition to a Brimstone collection. Such a fantastic concept. Excellent in gameplay.

I was concerned that I would rarely use the models because we hadn’t received too much money from our adventures, but a conscript and a Ronin appeared in our posse due to card draws. Pretty cool!!

Love the monkey! Again like most things on this site
Maybe wait till retail and save a few bucks. But honestly
Quit the enhancement to your normal game!
